In spite of encouraging MRI results, on the night of Feb. 8th 2009, a sudden drastic deterioration occur in Joan's health and she was rushed to the hospital. After one month she was moved to a nursing home and passed away on March 26th. Many people, friends, neighbors and family accompanied her on her last way. Joan is buried in the Kfar Nachman cemetery in Raanana. 30 days later, at the stone setting, her daughter Talia read the very touching and emotional words of the poem "Do not stand at my grave and weep" by Marry Elizabeth Frey.
