From Irene Samuels - I knew Joan for longer than almost anyone. We met at Primary school at the age of 5 and, apart from a few teenage years when we went our separate ways, we had been friends ever since. I had followed every development in her life and, like everyone else, was devastated by the news of her illness. Lawrence and I visited her grave whilst in Israel recently, and it gave me great comfort to think of her resting in such beautiful and peaceful surroundings. She is continually in my thoughts, and will be much missed. May she rest in peace.
